Confidentiality
When working with a child under 14, confidentiality is shared between myself, the child, and their parent/carer, as well as with my professional supervisor. (Personal details such as name and address are not disclosed in supervision.) From age 14 onwards, children are generally considered ‘Gillick Competent’ where they are seen as old enough to make decisions for themselves about their lives. In these situations, details will only be be shared with you if permission is given by your child. However, I always encourage open communication between children and their parents/carers, as it often supports better outcomes.

Exceptions to Confidentiality
Confidentiality may be broken in the following circumstances:

If I believe a child or adult is at risk of significant harm.

If you disclose plans to seriously harm yourself or others.

If you disclose information about certain offences, as required by law.

If records are subpoenaed by a court.

In such situations, I will aim to discuss this with you first, unless doing so would compromise safety. In rare cases, action may be taken without your consent, including after sessions have ended if the ending was unplanned.

Outside Contact & Boundaries
If either you or your child see me outside of sessions, I won’t acknowledge you unless either of you do so first, to protect your privacy.

Session Notes
I keep brief, confidential notes which are stored securely according to GDPR guidance. For minors, records are retained until their 25th birthday.

Therapist Agreement

I agree to:

Treat you with respect, compassion, and professionalism.
Provide a safe, confidential space for therapeutic work.
Use evidence-based and ethically sound hypnotherapy approaches.
Maintain professional boundaries at all times.
Refer you to another professional if your needs fall outside my scope of practice.
Consult with other professionals (e.g. your GP) with your permission, where necessary.
Remain up to date with training, ethics, and insurance requirements.

Client Agreement

By entering into therapy, you agree to:

Encourage your child to engage in the therapy process with openness and honesty.
Attend sessions on time.
Take responsibility for your child's progress, including helping them complete any 'homework' tasks agreed upon.
Inform me of any changes to their physical or mental health that may affect their ability to participate in the sessions.
Respect cancellation policies and payment terms (detailed below).

Understanding of Results

Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process and results cannot be guaranteed. The success of therapy depends on active participation, openness to change, and commitment to the process. Hypnotherapy is not a substitute for medical treatment or advice. You are advised to consult your GP or other healthcare professional for any medical concerns.

Fees and Cancellation Policy

Full payment is required in advance of each therapy session.

You may cancel or reschedule your appointment with the following notice periods:

Notice Given: 48+ hours = 100% refund
Notice Given: 24–48 hours = 50% refund
Notice Given: Less than 24 hours = No refund

If I am able to fill your cancelled appointment or reschedule without loss to my business, I will always endeavour to do so and you will receive a full refund.
