Why I started Belief Dynamics (and why it matters now more than ever).

If you'd asked me a few years ago what I thought about hypnosis, I probably would’ve said it was a bit woo-woo and like most people, immediately pictured someone being made to do silly things on stage. I could never have imagined it would become the foundation of my business—a local hypnotherapy practice rooted in compassion, neuroscience, and community connection.
But here we are!
I’ve always been fascinated by what makes people tick—how our inner worlds shape our outer lives.
My 30 years’ experience as a Creative Director leading a team in healthcare communications gave me countless opportunities to explore that, from the perspectives of my team and colleagues as well as hundreds (possibly thousands) of doctors, patients and carers. Now, I’m excited to work closely with local people navigating the rich and varied challenges many of us experience just by being human.
Why now?
Well, aside from it being time for a major career change for me, it feels right to bring hypnotherapy to our community right now:
Because the world is noisy—and it’s easy to lose yourself in it.
Because too many people are silently struggling—with no idea where to turn for support.
Because our children are more anxious, our parents more burnt out, and our senior citizens more isolated than ever before.
Why hypnotherapy?
Let’s be honest—most of us go through life believing that who we are is fixed. And while everyone I talk to has a story unique to them, I hear the same words again and again:“I’ve always felt this way. or ”“That’s just how I am.”“I can’t imagine being any different.”
But it doesn’t have to be that way.
Neuroscience confirms what hypnotherapists have long known: our thoughts, behaviours, and emotional patterns can be reshaped. Our brains’ ability to rewire itself is incredible and simply by reconnecting with the parts of ourselves that have been silenced, ignored, or simply overlooked, we can change–for the better.
Belief Dynamics was born from three simple truths:
1. As individuals, we are more powerful than we know.
2. Our beliefs are dynamic.
3. Empowered people empower each other.
I’m building a business built on community spirit, collaboration with local entrepreneurs, and the liberating idea that when you recognise that nothing is fixed, everything can change.
My mission?
To help everyone rediscover their inner strength and resilience–because when you do, you don’t just feel better—you show up differently for the people around you. And in doing so, grow the kind of connected, resilient communities we all need right now.
Which is why this isn’t just about classic one-to-one hypnotherapy sessions. It’s about seeing the bigger picture. We’re all part of systems—families, schools, teams, communities—and when one person makes a positive shift, it ripples outward.
That’s why I’m designing this practice to include both individual and community group experiences.
Very soon we’re launching our Dynamic Mind & Body Workshops—where we bring together small groups of 6–8 people all wrestling with the same real-life challenges. In a 2-hour nourishing session, we will blend insightful discussions and practical support strategies with transformational group hypnotherapy. A simple and highly effective way to enable new, helpful ideas, thoughts and behaviours to bring about positive change.
These workshops are created to support everyone at different life stages, dealing with real-life challenges—from those living with chronic pain, to mums preparing to return to work—for the parents of anxious children struggling with emotional regulation, and our carers and public service workers who are left feeling exhausted and unsupported. And no doubt there will be more as time goes on. (I have a million ideas on the back-burner already!)
It's a big ambition to make hypnotherapy mainstream and accessible for everyone in our Hertfordshire community–but I’m up for the challenge.
So, if you're here, reading this, wondering if change is possible for you or a community group you support—I want you to know that it absolutely is.
